Job Description

Location: 5300 S & S Street
Pay Grade: A05
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Under general supervision, drives a truck and/or operates equipment involved in the construction, repair and maintenance of city streets and stormwater systems.

*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*

Essential Job Functions

  • Operates a dump truck in support of construction and repair activities.
  • Transports asphalt, rock, dirt and sand to job sites.
  • Operates an asphalt paver, vibrating roller, or box blade tractor.
  • Operates a snow plow / sander during ice and snow events.
  • Operates an excavator / track hoe in tree removal, creek maintenance, demolition, and excavation.
  • Operates a bulldozer in road construction, demolition, and landscaping.
  • Operates heavy equipment, including backhoes, dozers, loaders, painting machines, box blades, skid steers, asphalt saws, and asphalt laydown machines.
  • Removes trees and cleans storm drains.
  • Operates a patch truck and repairs potholes; seals cracks in the road as they appear.
  • Performs routine maintenance on trucks and equipment.
  • Mows grass; operates a weed eater.
  • Loads and unloads truck by hand or with equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by one to two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class B CDL Driver's License with tanker endorsements, issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Physical Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert forceful physical effort in heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 100 pounds).
