Description
General Purpose
Performs a variety of semi-skilled, skilled, and technical tasks in the daily operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Facility.Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors the operations of all treatment plant equipment, pumps, gauges, and SCADA system.
Records and maintains laboratory, maintenance, and plant logs as required.
Takes raw and finished water samples as required to monitor water quality.
Performs laboratory analysis of raw and finished samples as required to maintain water quality.
Takes daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly samples in the water distribution system to monitor compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Makes adjustments to chemical feed rates, plant operations and equipment as needed to maintain water quality.
Performs maintenance to plant equipment, pumps, valves, and gauges as needed.
Performs general housekeeping duties of plant buildings, reservoir, and grounds.
Peripheral Duties
Responds to all public works emergencies and natural disasters including flooding, tornados, fires, winter weather and all other natural disasters

Desired Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:- Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in Water Plant Operations.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
(A)Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with employees, supervisors, City Staff, and the general public.
Special Requirements- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license or the ability to obtain, prior to employment.
- Must obtain a “D” level Water Plant Operators certification within one (1) year of employment. Must obtain a level “C” Water Plant Operators certification and “C” Water Laboratory Certification when eligibility requirements allow as set forth in ODEQ rules and regulations.

Motor vehicle, telephone, common hand tools, generators, backhoe, dump truck, shovels, wrenches, two-way radio, personal computer, copy machine, and fax machine.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
