Job Summary: Operates hydrovac trucks, dump trucks, motorized equipment and heavy equipment used for the Public Works department.

Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:- Operate a hydrovac truck, dump truck and or any other motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck or equipment.
- Ensure proper functioning of vacuum, water and hydraulic systems of the truck.
- Safely expose underground utilities, pipelines, and cables using high-pressure water and vacuum systems.
- Communicate with team members to ensure safe and efficient completion of excavation tasks.
- Adhere to company and industry safety standards at all time.
- Regulate traffic in hazardous conditions to ensure safe conditions for the collection personnel and the general public.
- Performs maintenance and upkeep of tools and equipment.
- Understanding of utility depths and placements.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety standards.
- Perform related tasks as required.
Typical Qualifications
Experience Required:Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having had a similar position for one or two years.
Minimum Education Requirements: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent
Other requirements: Must be able to read and write the English language. Must be able to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must be available for 24-hour call out on a rotating basis.
Certifications: Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license Class B CDL with air brake endorsementSupplemental Information

Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of equipment, methods, and procedures used in solid waste collection activities
- Familiar with city safety policies and procedures
- Operation of hydrovac truck
- Operation of dump truck
- Operation two-way radio
- Operation of common hand and power tools, pitchfork, shovel and wrenches
- Perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time
- Perform work safely
- Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Work in inclement weather
- Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with other employees and the public
