MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education – Incumbent must be a graduate of an accredited college/university of medicine receiving a M.D. or D.O.. Completion of a Pediatric Residency Program. Completion of a fellowship in Development-Behavioral Pediatrics.
Experience – Three (3) years of relevant experience required. Five (5) years of experience preferred.
Licenses & Certification – Incumbent must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics. Subspecialty certification or eligibility in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics is preferred. Incumbent must possess current State of Oklahoma License to practice medicine, DEA License, Medicare provider agreement and BLS certification and/or be able to obtain this license prior to employment with MCNDH.

Expertise in developmental and behavioral pediatric assessment and diagnosis.

Knowledge of developmental screening tools and diagnostic criteria.

Strong communication skill when working with children and families.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team.

Professional knowledge of the principles and practices of organization and management of public health care delivery programs, administration procedures; practice of the method and techniques of health care administration and evaluation.

Knowledge of pertinent rules, standards, regulations, policies and procedures governing the health care industry.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, dental and medical staff, administrative staff, health care professionals and the general public both orally and in writing.

Ability to meet and deal in recruiting professional medical care providers.

Ability to collect, organize, record, and communicate in a concise method, data pertinent to primary health assessments including detailed family and medical history, physical examinations, and selected laboratory tests.

Ability to provide emergency treatment such as cardiac arrest, shock, or hemorrhage.

Assist with medical in‑services and instruction of tribal health workers. Participate in program evaluation and planning activities.
JOB SUMMARY
The Developmental Pediatrician provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of children with developmental, behavioral, and learning disorders to patients served by Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health in accordance with MCNDH guidelines, policies and procedures. This role focuses on assessing developmental delays and conditions affecting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The Development Pediatrician works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, support families, and improve long-term outcomes for children with developmental and behavioral health needs.
Delivery of services are provided in accordance with IHS guidelines, JCAHO standards, State and Federal guidelines and standards and accepted standards of practice as set forth by the American Medical Association or American Osteopathic Association. Incumbent reports to the Clinical Director and HSA. Administrative support and supervision are provided by the HSA. This is an exempt position as applicable to the provisions of the FLSA.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed within an ambulatory health care setting. There is common exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and/or emotionally disturbed patients, families, and visitors. Must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as requested and required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in the ambulatory healthcare setting requires considerable walking between exam and treatment rooms, and long periods of moving about the work unit. Work requires regular and recurring bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting of patients or similar activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

Conduct comprehensive developmental evaluations for infants, children and adolescents.

Perform developmental screenings, behavioral assessments, and diagnostic testing.

Develop individualized care plans and coordinate treatment with interdisciplinary teams.

Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, educators, social workers, and other health care providers to ensure coordinated care.

Provide counseling and education to families regarding developmental conditions, treatment options, and community resources.

Coordinate referrals to specialty services including speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral health, and educational support services.

Accurately and timely document clinical encounters and orders in the electronic health record.

Participate in the observation and evaluation of community health problems, discussion of solutions and carrying out community health programs.

Apply evidence-based clinical judgment to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered surgical care.

Participate in Clinic CQI program and performs CQI activities.

Keep and maintain clear and accurate records on patients seen in accordance with established policy.

Regular attendance is required.
