MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education – High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Experience – Two (2) years of progressively responsible janitorial training or experience is strongly preferred.

Licenses & Certification –

Knowledge & Skills –

  1. Knowledge of janitorial/housekeeping practices and procedures used in health care facilities.

  2. Knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the performance of position duties. Such as vacuums, burnishers, scrubbers, wet vacs, carpet extractors.

  3. Knowledge of floor procedures including dust mopping, mopping, stripping, application of floor finish, burnishing.

  4. Knowledge of floor pads used for daily maintenance, burnishing, and stripping.

  5. Knowledge of infection prevention practices in a health care environment.

  6. Knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the performance of position duties.

  7. General working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repair will benefit the incumbent.

  8. Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions.

  9. Ability to courteously and effectively communicate with patients, visitors, co-workers and the general public both orally and in writing.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the position is to maintain an aesthetic, clean and safe environment within the health care facility for patients and their families, MCNDH Staff, visitors and the general public. Incumbent is responsible for performing routine housekeeping tasks throughout the Koweta Indian Health Facility located in Coweta, OK.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a ambulatory healthcare setting. There is common exposure to infections, infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required while performing the duties of the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work requires incumbent to be on his/her feet for the entire work period. There is also a great deal of regular bending, lifting, stooping, climbing and stretching required in the performance of duties. Incumbent must be able to lift at least fifty (50) pounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

  1. Maintenance of all type flooring throughout the health clinic. Major duties may include but not limited to mopping, burnishing, scrubbing, stripping and waxing various floor surfaces.

  2. Other duties include cleaning patient examining rooms, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, halls and other areas of the facility.

  3. Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition.

  4. Distributes laundered articles and linens.

  5. Replaces soiled drapes and cubicle curtains.

  6. Replenishes paper goods to exam rooms, bathrooms, waiting areas, and designated staff areas.

  7. May disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies, using germicides and sterilizing equipment.

  8. Incumbent is responsible for stocking and requesting orders for all cleaning appliances and supplies, etc. necessary in performing job duties.

  9. Incumbent will be subject to random audits to assess work performance.

  10. Incumbent works closely with infection preventionist to aid in disease prevention.

  11. Incumbent is responsible for complying with the AAACH regulations for accreditation.

  12. Responsible for upkeep of facility floors.

  13. Incumbent will be required to non-operational hours for deep cleaning as needed.

  14. Regular attendance is required.

  15. Performs other duties as required.
