Job Description

Basic Purpose

Under general supervision, Housekeeping Staff will work with the housekeeping department and laundry facility to perform assigned routine work involving sweeping, mopping, dusting, disposing of trash, laundry, and general housekeeping at a state lodge. This position reports to the Executive Housekeepers.

Sequoyah Lodge is located in Sequoyah State Park with 150 lodging accommodations: 104 Lodge Rooms & Suites, 44 Duplex & Quadplex Cottage Units, a Lakehouse Cottage that sleeps 14, and a Bunkhouse that sleeps 38.

Typical Functions

  • General housekeeping of all lodge areas that are open to lodge visitors and guests

  • Sweeps, dusts, mops, scrubs, washes, vacuums, waxes, and polishes building floors, walls, woodwork, windows, furniture, equipment, and hardware

  • Cleans and sanitizes lavatories, and washrooms, and keeps washrooms supplied with paper, towels, and soap

  • Collects and disposes of trash and garbage in all exterior and interior receptacles; Maintains outdoor areas and removes debris from courtyard and sidewalks.

  • Removes all bedding items from dirty & vacant rooms to the laundry facility, and treats rooms when bedbugs, smoke, or excessive pet hair/dander/odor, etc. has been found in a room or cottage.

  • Other duties assigned

Education and Experience

No experience required. Must be at least 18 years or older.

Training will be provided in completing more advanced tasks, such as the disposal of restricted or environmentally hazardous materials, as well as operation of equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Special Requirements

To operate state-owned vehicles in the performance of regularly assigned duties; a successful applicant must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment.
