As a Registered Nurse in the Mental Health Unit at Wagoner Community Hospital, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to patients experiencing mental health challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans, ensuring that each patient's unique needs are met. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop therapeutic interventions and support systems that promote recovery and well-being. Additionally, you will educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to creating a safe and supportive environment that fosters healing and resilience among patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oklahoma.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or equivalent nursing degree.
- Experience in mental health nursing or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- Experience with evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health status and develop personalized care plans.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for side effects and therapeutic effectiveness.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in acute distress.
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and engage patients in therapeutic activities.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong clinical assessment abilities, which will be utilized daily to evaluate patients' mental health and develop appropriate care plans. Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with the healthcare team and educating patients and families about treatment options. Crisis intervention skills will be employed to manage acute situations and provide immediate support to patients in distress. Additionally, organizational skills will help in maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring continuity of care. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with therapeutic modalities, will enhance your ability to engage patients in meaningful therapeutic activities and contribute to their recovery journey.
