Entry Level IT Technician

Wagoner County is seeking a motivated and dependable Entry-Level IT Technician to join our
Information Technology team. This position is ideal for individuals who are interested in starting a
career in IT, even if they do not currently hold industry certifications.
This role provides hands-on experience supporting a wide range of systems, including county office
infrastructure and public safety communications. The ideal candidate is a hardworking problem
solver who is eager to learn, adaptable, and capable of handling a variety of technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support in person, by phone, and through remote tools
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
Set up and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
Install, configure, and update operating systems and applications
Assist with user account setup, password resets, and permissions
Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes
Maintain inventory records of IT equipment and software licenses
Document issues, resolutions, and system changes
Work with vendors and assist in IT-related projects
Support and assist in maintaining public safety radio systems, including 800 MHz
infrastructure
Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and monitoring
Assist with IT support across all county departments
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate degree or coursework in Information Technology is preferred but not required
Prior technical experience or hands-on work with computers is a plus
Skills and Competencies
Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems
General understanding of computer hardware and troubleshooting
Familiarity with basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS) is helpful
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload
Good communication and customer service skills
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments
Work Environment and Expectations
Work involves both office-based tasks and on-site support throughout Wagoner County
Position supports all county departments, including critical public safety systems
Occasional after-hours support is required
This position operates in a 24/7/365 support environment
An on-call rotation will be implemented after training is completed
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces when necessary
Ability to bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods while installing or troubleshooting
equipment
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions

Compensation
Pay Range: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour
Compensation is based on experience, skills, and qualifications
